Next Step

I graduated ILAC yesterday. I really enjoyed school. Although I can't say my English became really good, it is much better for sure. It's not true that everyone become able to speak English if they live somewhere English speaking country. It's not enough, we need really hard work.

昨日ILACを卒業しました。本当に楽しかったです。すごく話せるようになったとは言えませんが、確実にましにはなりました。どこか英語を話す国に住めばだれでも英語が話せるようになるなんて嘘です。それじゃあ足りない。本当に努力しなくては。

The improvement is not the same speed. It was easy to move up next level at fist stage, but I stuck in the same level for over 2 months lately. I've gotten into a slump. I know it's the important thing is never giving up. I believe I can come out of this.

成長の速度は一定ではありません。最初の頃はレベルアップは簡単です。でも最近は2か月も同じレベルでとどまっています。スランプに陥ってしまいました。でも諦めないことが一番重要。抜け出せるって信じてます。

And I got a job. I'm going to work a Sushi shop in a supermarket. I worked at Sushi shop as part time worker in Japan when I was University student, so they are interested in me. I didn't expect I'm going to work at Sushi shop again. I submitted my resume to about 20 companies. It's the only company to give a reply to me.

それと仕事がみつかりました。スーパーに入ってるお寿司屋さんで働くことになりました。学生時代寿司屋でバイトしていた経歴を認めてくれたようです。まさかまた寿司屋で働くことになろうとは。２０社くらいはレジュメを出したのですが、返事をくれたのはここだけです。

I was always worried about the worst thing but it never happen. I'm really lucky.
I'm sad a little bit, but it's time to say good bye and move to a next step.

わたしは心配性でいつも最悪のことを考えていたのですが、最悪のことはいつも起こりません。本当についてるんです、わたし。

Snow flakes

My Korean friend has gone back to her country. We had a good time. We cooked together on Halloween. We made hamburg steaks and butter carrot. She said " I've started making butter carrot after Halloween because you told me. I love it! " I was so happy when I heard that.

韓国の友達が国に帰ってしまいました。楽しかったなぁ。ハロウィーンの日にみんなでハンバーグとバターキャッロットを作ったんですが、彼女が「あやが教えてくれたバターキャロット、ハロウィーン以来、作るようになったんだよ。わたし、これ大好き！」と言ってくれました。とっても嬉しいですね。

It was snowing hardly on Saturday. It was first time to see snow flakes. It's not much snow in my city. Sometimes we can see snow but it is heavy snow which already melted. It's light and dry in here. Snow flakes are really cute and beautiful shape.

日曜日は大雪でした。初めて雪の結晶を見ました。わたしの住む町では雪はあまり降りません。時々降っても、重たくて、湿った雪。ここの雪は軽くて乾いている。雪の結晶はかわいらしく、きれいな形をしています。

Also I experience shoveling snow first time.

Start Job Hunting

I finished reading "The Chronicles of NARNIA" which I started reading in September. I could understand sometimes, but I lost immediately whenever war started. I read it 30 minutes every morning. I couldn't enjoy actually because it's too hard for me and also the story is not my thing. But I decided to read everything, so I did. It helped me to improve my English. That's why I'm not good at listening though, reading skill is not but. Anyway, I got it 10 years ago, finally I finished. Somehow I'm satisfied with this.

９月から読み始めた『ナルニア国物語』を読み終えました。わかるところも時々、でも戦争がはじまるとすぐわからなりました。毎朝３０分。実際、内容が難しすぎるのと、わたしの好きなタイプのお話ではなかったので楽しくはなかったのですが、毎日読むと決めてやりました。でも確かに、英語力アップに役立ったと思います。リスニングは苦手ですが、リーディングは悪くないのはそのためですね。とにかく、１０年前に買って、やっと読み終えたんです。なんだか満足。

I have only 2 weeks left to study in ILAC. Time flies. I'm finishing this blog too. I don't want to leave school because I don't have confidence in my English. But it might be important thing that using English outside of school. I started job hunting today. Actually it seems hard to find a job in Toronto. I hope working at something relative tennis opportunity, so I went to 3 indoor tennis clubs to drop my resume. I had butterfly in my stomach. I would be nervous in Japanese, and is even more so in English. I'm not sure if I can go to the interview though...

ILACも残すところあと２週間。とっても早かったです。このブログも終わりに近づいています。英語に自信がないのでまだ卒業したくありません。でも、学校の外で英語を使うことが重要なことかもしれません。今日は就職活動を始めました。トロントでは仕事を探すの大変そうです。わたしは何かテニスに関係した仕事をしたかったので、今日は３つインドアテニスクラブにレジュメを置いてきました。すごく緊張しました。日本語でも緊張するだろうに、英語ならなおさら。面接に呼ばれるかどうかもわかりませんが・・・。

Globalization

There are many students from other country in ILAC. And everyone proud of own country. We become talkative whenever we talk about own country. There is a map of world in our class, we point own country and say "I'm living here, it's a cold (hot) place. Food is ..."

I noticed that it's weird thing just 70 years ago because our country made war each other. We hated each other in spite of we didn't know each other well. However nowadays students from other country gather in the same class and we respect each other. We have a lot of common interests because of TV or internet or other globalization. Human is human. I feel difference is not much, we have a lot of common things. However they are different ages, they have different job, and they need English because of different purpose. I wouldn't meet a pilot and a doctor and a lawyer as friends.

We might not see each other again. Old students finish school, and new students come...somehow sad but there are nothing we can do.

ILACには他の国から来た学生がたくさんいます。そしてみんな自分の国を誇りに思っています。自分の国のことを話すときはみんなおしゃべりになる。クラスに世界地図があるんですが、自分の国を指さして説明し始める。「ここが僕の住んでるところで寒い(熱い)。ご飯は...」

ほんの７０年前だったらおかしなことだったんだと思った。戦争中だったんだから。お互いのことをよく知らないくせに、いがみあっていた。でも今じゃ他の国から来た者どうしが同じ教室に集まって、お互いを尊敬しあっている。テレビやインターネット、他のグローバル化のおかげで共通する興味がたくさんある。人間は人間。違いなんてそんなにない。共通することのが多い。でも年齢はさまざま、仕事もさまざま、さまざまな目的で英語を必要としている。パイロットや医者や弁護士に友達として会うことなんてなかったでしょうね。

そして二度と会わないかもしれない。古い生徒は学校を卒業していき、新しい生徒がやってくる。なんだか空しいけど、しょうがないよね。

今年もあと一か月。本当に早いです。

Culture shock

I noticed that I've never taken a bath since I left Japan when I was talking about culture shock in my class. Then I miss a bath so much. Almost every Japanese take a bath every day, but its unusual thing in Canada. "Why do you take a bath every day in Japan?" I was asked by other students. Why? I've never thought about this question. Because it just feels good. I also want to ask "Why don't you take a bath every day?" Also I explained that we have to wash our body before we have a bath because we use the same water. Other students were a little surprised.

Asian have common culture though, there are many things different. I didn't care about it because the difference is not that big. However it's interesting things, so I try to write down here.

· We don't write someone's name in red in Japan because this means death. I felt a little uncomfortable first when I got red ink pen from shopkeeper to white my signature.

· We can't take leftovers out in restaurants. It's normal here.

· We don't kiss each other even with our family in public. "It's cold" I was said by other students.

· We have to pour beer for seniors or boss.

· We wash clothes every day.

I knew about something, but I realize difference again. The biggest difference thing is people love freedom and equal in Canada. We respect other people's mind in Japan. I don't know which is better. Both culture have positive side and negative side. But human is like that. That's fantastic!

クラスでカルチャーショックの話をしていたら、日本を離れてから一度もお風呂に入っていないことに気が付きました。そしたらむしょうにお風呂が恋しくなりました。ほとんどの日本人は毎日お風呂に入りますよね。でもそれってカナダでは普通じゃないんです。「なんで日本人は毎日お風呂に入るの？」こう訊かれるまで、なんでなんて考えたこともなかった。ただ、気持ちがいいから。逆にこっちが訊きたいよ。「なんで、みんなお風呂に毎日入らないの？」って。

アジアの文化はけっこう共通してますが、ここではいろいろ違います。些細なことなのであまり気にしたことはないのですが、面白いので書いてみますね。

· 日本人は赤インクで人の名前を書かない。赤インクで名前を書くことは死を意味する。だから最初、お店の人に赤ペンをサインするためにもらったときなんだか気持ち悪かった。

· 日本ではレストランで残り物を持ち帰ることができない。でも、ここでは普通。

· 日本人は家族同士でさキスしない。と言ったら「冷たい」と言われました。

· 日本人は上司や先輩にお酌をしなくてはならない。

· 洗濯は毎日。

いくつかは知ってはいましたが、改めて気づきます。一番大きな違いは、カナダの人は自由と平等を愛し、日本人は人の気持ちを尊重することですね。どっちがいいのかなんて選べません。どっちもいいところがあって悪いところがある。人間ってそういものですよね。ファンタステック！です。

Difficulty

I got the worst score in my class from ILAC last Friday. I know this level is really hard for me, but I was so disappointed. Reading is OK, but listening is terrible. After that I watched 5 movies in English last weekend. Although I don't know it really works, I should try. My growth is always slower than others. The important thing is not to give up. The difficulty remains me when I was trying hard to play tennis.

I started playing tennis when I was University student. I hadn't experienced any sports before, so it's really hard to improve my skills. I couldn't beat even younger teammates who started tennis after me. After graduated University, I continued playing tennis because I really wanted to be good player. 6 years later, I'm still not so good player though, I can beat other players sometimes. It always gives me confident.

It's a good thing for sure, but it makes my world to be small. I spent all the time to play tennis weekend. Also, I had no free time weekday because I had to work such a long time. I haven't seen so much movies, so it's hard for me when I have to talk about movies with classmates. I try to check movies which is said good now. I didn't care about famous singers though, I'm interested in them now.

I hope it helps me to get broad view.

先週の金曜日、クラスで一番悪い成績をとりました。今のクラスはわたしには難しいクラスだとはわかっているのですが、とてもくやしいです。リーディングはいいとして、リスニングが酷すぎる。それで先週末は英語で５本、映画を観ました。本当に効き目があるかどうかはわかりませんが、やるしかない。わたしはいつも人より成長が遅い。重要なのは諦めないこと。なんだかこの状況は、テニスをがんばって練習していたころの気持ちに似ています。

わたしは大学生になってからテニスを始めたのですが、それまでスポーツ経験がなかったのでなかなか上手くなれませんでした。後から始めた後輩に負けるという始末です。本当に上手くなりたくて、大学を卒業した後も頑張って練習してました。６年後、今でも上手いとは言えないのですが、たまには勝てるようになりました。このことは自信になってます。

確かにこのことはいいことではあるのですが、平日は仕事が忙しすぎて自分の時間がなく、休日はすべてテニスに捧げていたため、わたしの世界はすごく狭くなってしまいました。映画なんかほとんど観ることもなかったので、クラスで映画の話をしなきゃならないのが辛いです。それで、いいと言われる映画はチェックしてみることにしています。有名な歌手とか全然知らないんですが、今では興味があります。

視野を広げるのに役に立ってくれればいいけど。

My refrigerator was empty, so I went to the supermarket near my house yesterday.
This is the supermarket called Loblaws.

冷蔵庫が空っぽだったので、昨日は近くのスーパーに行きました。
これがLoblaws（ラブロス）というスーパーです。

Canadian like fruits. There are many fruits. The place is bigger than the place of vegetables.

カナダの人はフルーツ好きです。野菜コーナーよりフルーツコーナーのほうがでかいじゃないか。

Look at the cheese !! Canadian supermarkets have usually various cheese. I was surprised when I found first time.

見てください、このチーズ‼　カナダのスーパーはたいていいろんなチーズを置いています。初めて見たときは驚きました。

Vegetables normally aren't lapped and just are put on there.

野菜はたいてい袋に入れないでそのまま置かれています。

There are many kind of seasons. I don't know how to cook.

いろんな種類の調味料。どうやって使うのかわかりません。

About alcohol...we can generally buy alcohol only from The Liquor Control Board of Ontario(LCBO) in Ontario. We can buy it everywhere in Japan like supermarket and convenience store even vending machine. And we need identification to buy alcohol here. Also, we are not allowed to drink outdoor. In Japan, it's tradition we drink beer under cherry blossom. We enjoy fire works with drinking beer.

お酒について・・・オンタリオ州では普通はLOBOでしかお酒が買えません。日本ではスーパーやコンビニ、自動販売機でも買えますよね。ここではお酒を買うのに身分証明書が必要です。その上、外でお酒を飲むことは禁じられています。日本では桜の下でビールを飲むのは伝統だし、みんな花火を見ながらビールを飲みますよね。

先週、霜が地面一面に降りていました。
この白っぽくなってるの霜です。わかりますか？

I was living in close to Nagoya. We can see rarely frost like that.
わたしは名古屋の近くに住んでいたんですけど、こんなに霜が降りているのは珍しいです。

By the way, I moved up level last week, so my level is Advanced now.
New class is very tough. Everyone get it easily. The teacher speaks very fast. Maybe I'm the worst student in the class. I'm going to catch up with them.

ところで、先週レベルが上がり、今アドバンスです。
新しいクラスはすごく大変です。みんな簡単に理解できるし、先生は早く話すし。たぶんわたしがクラスの中で一番できない生徒です。まぁ、追いついてやりますけどね。

Many Japanese have the same problem though, we scared of mistake. We always try to be perfect. I played tennis today, and then my ball went out outside the court. A man was walking there, I sould have said " Could you get me that ball ? " I was scared to say because it might not be correct English. It was good chance to speak English though.

多くの日本人が同じ問題を抱えてるんですが、それはミスを恐れるということ。わたしたちは完璧をいつももとめちゃうんですね。今日テニスしていてボールが外に出てしまったんですが、通りすがりの人がいたので、「ボールとってくれませんか？」と言えばよかったのに言えなかった。不自然な英語かもしれないと思うと恥ずかしくて。せっかくの英語を話す機会だったのにな。。

Japan has many good points. It's pretty safe, we have high quality technologies, products and services. These things are amazing. I didn't notice that because it was too normal for me, but I realized in Canada. Subway is not working until 10 am, and almost all shops are close early on Sunday. Subways, buses are delay everyday here, sewing and bookbinding are not good, and servers are sometimes rude. A lot of electricity is made from Japan. Many international students have watched Japanese animations and played video games.

On the other hand. The working culture is a dinosaur. Many people work a long time without pay. Bosses have a big power, so it's hard to say individual opinion. There are many sexual harassment and no countermeasures. There are many suicides who felt difficulty in their company. In Canada, these things are less. Many people go home on time and spend time for family or themselves. Between bosses and workers are almost equal. If men say indecent word even like "You have a nice body", they are going to be fired right away.

I hope Japanese working culture progress.

日本ってすごいですよ。まあまあ安全だし、技術や製品、サービスの質は高いし。本当にすごいって思います。日本にいたときはあたりまえすぎて気づかなかったんですがカナダにいるとわかってきます。カナダでは、日曜になると、地下鉄が午前１０時になるまで動きませんし、だいたいのお店は早く閉まってしまいます。地下鉄やバスが遅れるのは毎日のことだし、縫製や製本は適当だし、ときどきサービスがなってないときもあります。多くの電化製品は日本製で、多くの外国人留学生は日本のアニメを見ていて、日本のゲームで遊んだことがあります。

一方で、日本の労働環境はすごく古い。多くの人がサービス残業を強いられています。上司が大きな権力を握っていて、個人の意見が通りにくいのが普通です。セクハラ事件はたくさん起こっているのに、対策はありません。多くの人が仕事のストレスから自殺をします。カナダではこういう問題はもっと少ないみたいです。たいていの人が時間通りに帰宅をし家族と過ごしたり自分のために時間を使います。上司と部下の関係は極めて均等。男の人がわいせつな言葉をかけると「君ってナイスバディだね」のような言葉でさえ、即刻その人は解雇されるそうです。

日本の労働環境ももっとよくなればいいのに。

Making Pottery

At first we saw gallery.
陶芸をしにガーディナー美術館に行きました。
まずはギャラリーを見学。

Those are made by pottery. Unbelievable!
これ、どちらも陶器ですよ。信じられない。

Can you see that ? There are a boy and a girl, they are face to face.
見えますか？男の子と女の子が向かい合っています。

It was fun, but hard. We were very tired after that.
楽しかったけど大変でした。終わった後はすごく疲れてました。

Daylight saving time ends

I was a little confused today.

I woke up and checked my cellphone. It said 6 am. It was a little early, so I fell back to sleep. I got up again and checked the cellphone. It said 7 am, but it was something different. It was very right outside. Then, I checked my wrist watch. It said 8 already. "???"

It seems the time is changed every year in Canada during March to November because the length of daylight is completely different between summer and winter. It's light already at 5 am in summer and it still light at 9 pm. And recently it was still dark at 7 am and it was already dark at 5 pm. But it has changed 1 hour later today. It will be changed in March again. I feel I can get extra 1 hour this time, but I will feel I lose 1 hour in March.

My cellphone has switched back automatically.

今日、ちょっと混乱しました。

目が覚めて携帯を見ると午前6時でした。ちょっと早いので二度寝して、目が覚めてまた携帯を見ると7時。でもなんかおかしい。外がいつもより明るいんです。そこで腕時計を見るともう8時を指している。"？？？"

カナダでは日の長さが夏と冬とでは全く違うため、毎年3月から11月の間は時間が変えられているらしいのです。夏では5時にはもう明るくて9時くらいまで明るく、最近では7時なのにまだ暗く、5時にはもう暗い。でも、今日時間が1時間遅く変えられました。で、3月になったらまた戻すらしいです。今は一時間得した感じがしますが、3月は損したような感じがするだろうと思います。

携帯は自動的に修正されていたというわけです。

Halloween

Last Thursday was October 31st. It was Halloween. It's big event in Canada. It's completely different as Japanese, it's getting popular in Japan though. Some houses was changed haunted houses. We could see monsters that day if we took a subway.

先週の木曜日は10月31日。ハロウィーンでした。カナダではビッグイベントですね。日本でも浸透してきているとはいえ、全然違いました。お化け屋敷と化している家もあり、その日に地下鉄に乗ればモンスターが乗っているという有様です。

How much is that cost?
これいくらくらいかかるんでしょうね？

Actually, I'm not a party person, but I tried to go there that day. ILAC hold many parties for free admission. If you like parties or night clubs, you could enjoy. Starting time was 9 pm, so we cooked dinner together at my house. We made hamburg steaks.

実はパーティとか苦手なんですけど、その日は行ってみることに。ILACは、パーティーを入場料無料でたくさん開催してます。もしパーティーとかナイトクラブとかが好きな人は楽しめますよ。夜9時にスタートだったので、家でハンバーグを作って食べました。

形ばかり魔女になってパーティへレッツゴー！！！

We saw many people in costume. Cat woman, zombies, ancient people, animals, princess, angels, something else...on the way. Halloween party was held everywhere. It's interesting. Nobody think it's strange.

キャットウーマンやらゾンビやら古代の人々やら、動物たちやら、お姫様やら天使やら他にもいろいろ途中で見かけました。ハロウィーンパーティがそこらじゅうで開催されているんですね。誰も変だなんて思わない。おもしろいです。

Actually, that's embarrass to say, we couldn't enter the party.
We must bring ID to enter night clubs......We forgot our passports. The end...lol

あのー、お恥ずかしい話なんですが、入場できなかったんですよね。ナイトクラブに入場するためにはIDが必要なんですが、パスポート、忘れちゃったんです。ちゃんちゃん　笑。

New Skill

It's already winter here. It's so cold... How about Japan? I guess it's getting cooler after long hot days.

I attended meeting of volunteer librarian last Tuesday. I had to talk about "What new skills did I get recently?"

It is ability of guess, I think. There are a lot of people from other country in ILAC. Sometimes it's hard to understand what they say because of different pronunciation or different culture. It's easy way that listen completely than listen carefully. For example "I went to Brazilian ----- last night. I was excited, so I drank too much. I have a headache today" Can you guess the answer? ----- is "party". You don't have to hear every word. Intonation and tone of voice are also helpful. You can understand speaker's emotion even if you can't hear everything. I didn't learn about it in my high school.

ここはもう冬です。すごく寒いです...日本はどうですか？やっと涼しくなったところですか？

先週の火曜日、図書室ボランティアの打合せに行ってきたんですが、「最近、身につけた新しいスキル」について話さなくてはなりませんでした。

私の場合、予想する力でしょうか。ILACには他の国からきている人がたくさんいるので、ときどき発音や文化の違いから、何を言っているのか理解するのが難しいことがあります。そんなときは注意深く聴くよりも、全体的に聞くほうがいいです。例えば、「昨日の夜ブラジルの＿に行ったんだけど、楽しくって、飲みすぎちゃった。今日は頭が痛い」答え予想できますか？＿は「パーティ」です。一字一句すべて聞く必要はないんですね。イントネーションとか声のトーンなんかも大事。たとえ全く聞き取れなかったとしても、話し手の感情は理解できますから。高校ではこんなこと教えてくれなかったな。

My teacher of main class taught English in Japan for 2 years. She practiced "Hidamari no Uta" (sung by Le cople) because she wanted to sing at Karaoke. She can't understand Japanese so much but she tried to catch the lyric with only her ears. She practiced again and again. After that she became able to sing the song. Besides her listening skill became much better. I'm also try to sing English songs. But I got in trouble with the Korean boy who lives next to my room because I sing a song at 10 pm.

I'll try to translate "Hidamari no Uta" in English.

今のメインクラスの先生は日本で２年英語の先生をしてた人で、その時にカラオケで『ひだまりの詩』を歌いたくて練習をしたそうです。日本語はほとんどわからなっかったけど耳だけで歌詞を聞き取ったそうです。何度も何度も練習して歌えるようになった後、リスニング力も上がったそうな。わたしもそれで英語の歌を練習してたんですが、隣の部屋の韓国人の男の子に怒られちゃいました。夜１０時すぎに歌うな、だそうです。

Pssed Test

Finally, I could pass the test at Pre-Advanced revel ! I've failed 2 times already. It'd be herder than Hi-intermediate level.

ついにプレアドバンスのテストに合格しました。２回、不合格でやっと。。テストはハイインターミディエイトよりずっと難しくなります。

これが今日の。

I can't tell my English is improving, but my teacher said " Your are very improving" in this paper. I got confidence. And former main class's teacher said " Aya, your listening is getting better" Above all, I got better result in the test. I can believe myself, right?

自分じゃ、英語力が上がっているかどうかわからないんですけど、先生が「あなたの英語はすごく伸びてます」と書いてくれました。自信になります。それから前のクラスの先生も「あや、リスニングがよくなってきてるね」と言ってくれました。なによりテストの結果がよくなっているんだから、自分を信じてもいいよね。

However I have to learn more. It's still hard when I talk with someone.
I'll do volunteer work as librarian from next week. I hope it'll help to improve my English.

それでもまだまだ。ナチュラルに話すことはなかなか難しいし。
来週から図書館員のボランティアをします。英語の上達につながればいいんだけど。

Thanks giving day

It was 3 days holiday in Canada, I guess Japan too. It was "Taiiku no Hi" in Japan. It was "Thanks giving day" in Canada.
Tanks giving day is the day people celebrate settlement in Canada, though I don't know exactly. Somehow it seems to eat turkey with family that day. I also ate turkey today, because my house's owner gave it to me.

カナダは三連休でした。日本もそうでしたよね。"体育の日"　でもカナダは"サンクスギビングデイ"でした。
サンクスギビングデイ(感謝祭）はカナダへの移住を祝福する日とかでよくわからないんですが、とにかく七面鳥を家族で食べる日みたいです。わたしもお家のオーナーさんがくれたので今日、食べました。

I went to London in Canada yesterday to see my friend. She is living there. It takes 2 hour and half from Toronto by bus. I met her who was working as English teacher at language exchange in Japan before I came to Canada. She has gone back to Canada because she wanted to go to University. We promised to see you again in Canada.

昨日はカナダのロンドンという町に行ってきました。友達が住んでるんです。トロントからはバスで２時間半くらい。彼女とは日本のラングエッジエクスチェンジで出会いました。その頃、彼女は英語の先生をしてました。それから彼女は大学に通うためカナダに帰ることになってので、カナダでまた会おうと約束してたんです。

London is pretty small city compere with Toronto. We walk around by foot, it was calm and peaceful.
We went to a restaurant for lunch. Luckily, we didn't need paying. Staffs told us because they mistook our order. But it was too kind. Because of thanks giving day I guess.

ロンドンはトロントと比べてけっこう小さな町です。歩いてまわってみたのですが、静かで平和なかんじでした。
お昼はレストランに行ったのですが、ラッキーなことに無料で食べられました。スッタッフがオーダーミスをしていたらしく、そのお詫びにということでしたが、それにしても親切すぎる。サンクスギビングデイだからかな。

We cooked dinner together. It was very good. Maple salmon and squash soup.

I got so full !!! I had a good time with her.
I appreciate of it.

夕食は一緒に作りました。すごくおいしかったです。メイプルサーモンとスクワッシュスープ。

お腹いっぱいになりました。とっても楽しかったです。
友達に感謝です。

It was rainy last Sunday, so I went to the cafe near my house. I'd wanted to go there since I found it in a booklet.
先週の日曜日は雨だったので近くのカフェへ行ってきました。ブックレットで見つけてから、ずっと行きたかったところです。

I had a cup of latte and read a book, it was raining outside. That was cool. I couldn't understand the book so much though.
そとは雨、ラテを飲みながら読書。贅沢ですね。本のほうはあんまり理解できてませんが。

Other day I went to other cafe. I ordered latte again. It was poured in a glass. It was nice, but I prefer cups because much foam is left.

There are many Tim Hortons and Starbucks in Toronto. Students usually go them. Tim Hortons is Canadian chain coffee shop. Their ice cauppuccino was very popular in Summer. Personally it was too sweet.

別の日にまた違うカフェに行って、カフェラテを頼んだんですが、グラスで出てきました。とてもおいしかったのですが、わたしはカップのが好きかな。泡が残っちゃうんで。

カナダにはティムホートンとスターバックスがそこらじゅうにあって、学生は普段はどっちかにいきますね。あ、ティムホートンはカナダのチェーンコーヒーショップです。夏はアイスカプチーノが人気ですが、個人的には甘すぎでした。

Horseback Riding

I went to trail ride on Saturday. We could go along the trail on the horse back. I was a first timer, but I could because the horses are well trained. A guide went first and the other went middle, the other went last. The horses know they have to follow the guide, so we don't have to do almost any thing. They never started running. Sometimes they stopped to eat glass but we had only to call their name and kick their belly with pulling their reins.
土曜日、乗馬しに行ってきました。馬に乗って小道を行くんです。わたしは全くの初心者でしたが、馬がよく訓練されているので、問題ありませんでした。ガイドの人が先頭を行って、他のガイドの人が真ん中、そして最後にガイドの人がついていました。馬がガイドの人についていかなきゃならないことを知っているので、わたしたちはほとんど何もしなくてよかったです。走り出すこともありませんでした。時々、草を食べ始じめて止まることがありましたが（文字通り道草を食ってました）、名前を呼んでお腹を蹴りながら手綱を引くだけでいうことを聞いてくれます。

The scenery was terrific! We went through the narrow trail, we could see leaves turned red or yellow and fall flowers. On horseback is high and I felt horse's temperature.
景色は最高！狭い小道を行ったんですが、赤や黄色に変わった葉っぱや秋の草花を堪能しました。馬上は高く、馬の体温を感じました。

There were a cat. He hated me. I was bitten two times.
猫がいましたが、わたしは嫌われたようで、２度も噛まれました。

It has been fall already. This maple leaf is so Canada, isn't it? I've stayed here for 4 months. I wonder if my English is improving? I hope so.
すっかり秋ですね。この楓の葉っぱがカナダって感じですよね？もう４か月もここにいますが、わたしの英語は上達しているのでしょうか？そうだといいのですが。

We went to Korean restaurant. I ordered Samgyeopsal. It was a big quantity, good taste and reasonable price. We were satisfied with them.
コリアンレストランに行ってきました。サムギョプサルを頼んだんですけど、量も多いし、おいしいし、安いしと大満足でした。

I did volunteer work again. The event was walking around in Toronto. My job was back check. It was easy. We just put number on luggage and kept it. We were not busy, so I talked with boys from high school. We talked about "Naruto" "One Peace". Japanese comics is very popular in the world. My room mate who is from Vietnam also read Japanese comics. She likes "Ranma 1/2". Unfortunately, I stopped reading "Naruto" and "One Peace(because they are long story. When I started reading them, I was also high school student lol), so I couldn't follow the story. They know detail than me.

After that job, I played tennis with people whom we knew each other on the internet. Somehow I often meet with friends whom is not from ILAC recently.

またボランティアしました。トロントを歩くというイベントでした。わたしの仕事はバックチェックでした。荷物に番号をつけてただ預かるというもので、簡単な仕事です。暇だったので、高校生の男の子たちとひたすらしゃべっていました。『ナルト』とか『ワンピース』の話をしたのですが、日本のマンガって本当に世界で人気なんですね。ベトナムから来たルームメイトも『らんま１/２』が好きって言ってました。残念ながら、わたしは『ナルト』も『ワンピース』も読むのをやめていたので（だって、長いんだもの。読み始めたときは、わたしだって高校生でした　笑。）、話についていけませんでした。よっぽど、彼らのほうが話を知ってます。

ボランティアのあと、インターネットで知り合った人たちとテニスしました。なんだか最近ILAC以外の友達とよく会います。

Wheelchair race

I did volunteer at wheelchair race event last Sunday. Actually there were many volunteers, so I couldn't do so much. It was cold. Meeting time is 9 am. I had to walk for somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 hour half because TTC(subway, bus, street car in Toronto) starts from 9 am on Sunday.
先週の日曜日、車いすレースのボランティアをしました。うーん、実際はボランティアの数が多すぎてほとんどなにもしてないんですが。寒かったです。集合時間が午前９時だったんですが、TTC（トロントの地下鉄、バス、ストリートカー）が日曜日は午前９時からしか動かないので、しかたなく約１時間半歩きました。

I wanted to have English opportunity though, I didn't speak so much....
I have volunteer work next week too. I hope it's good for me.
英語を話す機会がほしかったのですが、ほとんど話せず...。
来週もボランティアの予定があるので、それはいい機会になればいいと願っています。

My friend came to Toronto from Japan! We went to St. Lawrence Market.
トロントに日本から友達がやってきました。セント・ローレンスマーケットへ。

There are various kinds of food. It's not so cheep, but fresh.
たくさんの種類の食べ物があります。そんなに安くはないけど、新鮮。

I'm still not good at shopping because I just started cooking. I don't know how to cook some foods. And I don't know how long does it keep. I couldn't buy anything if I didn't know how to cook. I don't want to waste of foods.
まだ料理し始めたばかりなので、まだまだ買い物、下手です。どうやって調理するのかわからないことはしょっちゅうですし、食材がどれくらい保つのかわからないんです。どうやって調理するのかわかたないうちは何も買えない。食材を無駄にしたくはないですからね。

After that, we went to Distillery district. Unfortunately, it was raining from the morning, we got wet already. The buildings which made from brick are beautiful though.
それからデスティラリーディストリクトへ。あいにく朝から雨が降っていて、すでにびしょ濡れ状態。レンガ造りの街並みはすてきなんですけど。

I talked with her a lot. Because it was raining, we had a lot of time to talk. I said about ...I'm getting trouble with improving my English. I can't get along with new class mates. I'm too nervous whenever I speak to the people form other country.
雨でたくさん時間があったので、わたしはたくさん、彼女に話を聞いてもらいました。なかなか英語が上達しないこと、新しいクラスメートに馴染めないこと。日本人じゃないひとに話しかけるとき、いつも緊張しすぎてしまうこと。

When we said good-bye, she said to me.
"I got this word from my teacher. 'It's rainy sometimes, but it's going to be sunny' "
別れ際。
「先生にこの言葉をもらったの。『雨が降っても、晴れ間があるよ』だって」と彼女。

It had stopped rain already, and Sunlight was coming from split of cloud. We could see a little blue sky on west side.
That's true. It' going to be sunny.
その時、雨は止んでいて、雲の切れ間から日の光が射していました。西側には小さな青空が見えました。
本当だね。晴れ間があるよ。

Reading Books

It has been fall already in Toronto. It's good season for reading. I started reading "The chronicles of NARNIA". Actually I got this when I was still 18 years old to study English. It's about 10 years ago! I couldn't had read, and I've put it away.
I've read one of the story "The Magician's Nephew" now. I feel happy because it's first time. I had given up 2 or 3 pages.
トロントはすっかり秋です。読書の秋ってことで、『ナルニア国物語』を読み出しました。実はこれ、わたしがまだ１８歳だったときに英語の勉強のために買って、読めずに放置してあったものです。もう１０年も前！
今になって第一章『魔術師の甥』を読み終えました。前は２、３ページで断念していたので、感慨深いです。

"No dictionary" we are always said. It means we can't use the dictionary of own country. I heard it makes us confused. However we can use English dictionary. It makes more confused for me, but I'm trying.
I got this dictionary because that cover is beautiful.
「辞書禁止」といつも言われますが、これは自国の辞書禁止という意味です。自国の辞書を使うと混乱するからというのが理由です。英英辞典なら使えますが、かえってこっちのほうがわたしは混乱するんですが。。
この辞書は表紙がきれいなので購入しました。

Those books are excellent. They have many usual words. The words helped me many times. I recommend you.
この本はすごくいいです。使える表現がいっぱい載ってます。わたしはこの中の表現に何度か助けられました。おすすめです。

New Class

My vacation was over, I'm going to the school again. I could pass the test, my class is Pre-Advance now.
休暇が終了し、また学校に通っています。この間のテストに受かっていたので、今のクラスはプレアドバンスです。

My new teacher is a little strict. She requires being on time for sure, speaking English only, no dictionary, no cellphone. There are no new things, but requiring completely is very difficult. Because students always broke the rules. She doesn't miss that student. However she is very good teacher. Her class has good tempo. She is good at a pat on the back. I was leaned about a praise at job training in Japan. It's an important thing for encouraging students. It's true. I don't have to be shy. Because If I say not good answer, she becomes happy with big smile. 　
新しい先生は少し厳しい人で、もちろん時間厳守だし、母国語禁止、辞書禁止、携帯電話禁止。どれも当たり前のことですが、学生たちは常にルールを破るので、徹底させるのは難しい。でも彼女はそういうルール違反を見逃しません。でも、彼女は本当にいい先生。彼女の授業はとてもテンポがよく、彼女はほめ上手。職業訓練学校で、ほめることの重要性について学びましたが、それは本当で、もしわたしの答えがいい答えでなくても、彼女がにっこり笑って喜んでくれるので、わたしは遠慮なく答えることができます。

ILAC is a big school. You can change your teacher, if you don't like the class.
I also changed my class last time. Because I felt I didn't have any chance speaking in that class. My friend recommended me her teacher. So I changed to her class. Of course I got satisfied, that teacher is very good.
So don't be shy, change your class, if you feel the class doesn't match with you. Don't waste of time and money :(
ILACは大きい学校です。もし授業が自分に合わないなと感じたら、先生を変えることができます。
わたしも前回はクラスを変えました。前のクラスではスピーキングのチャンスが全然なかったので。それで友達が勧めてくれたクラスに変えたんです。もちろん正解でした。本当にその先生はいい先生でした。
だから、もしクラスが自分に合わないと感じたら遠慮せずに変えましょう。時間とお金を大切にしましょう（＞＜）

My new class had 2 teenagers (one of them finished the class), but the girls were mature. Not only that girls but also other many members are mature too. Especially the Latin people can speak English well, and they are energetic. Besides everyone are younger than me. To tell you the truth, I really envy them. I'm disappointed about myself. Why I can't do that like them?
However I know, their background are completely different. Asian has also good points. I should keep my pace. I just need to respect them.
新しいクラスには2人１０代の女の子がますが、（１人はクラスを終了しましたが）とても大人です。その女の子たちだけでなく他のメンバーもしっかりしている人が多い。特にラテンの人は英語は上手だし、陽気だし、その上みんな、わたしより若い。ここだけの話ですが、めっちゃ、くやしい。何でわたしはみんなみたいにできないの？と自分にがっかりしたりします。
まあ、わかってるんです。バックグラウンドがわたしと彼らとでは全く違いますし、アジア人だっていいところがあるんだから、わたしは自分のペースを守ればいいのだし、彼らをただ尊重するだけでいいんです。

New　Life

I said good bye to my home stay mom. It was very fun. I'm appreciate of it.
ホームステイのお母さんにさよならしました。とってもたのしかったです。感謝してます。

My new house is on the hill. It's close to Casa Loma. I can see CN tower it's the symbol of Canada. There are many woods, I can see squirrels every day. I'm very lucky, because the owner couple is very nice.
新しい家は丘の上、カサロマの近くです。カナダのシンボルCNタワーが見えます。たくさん気があって、毎日リスを見かけます。オーナー夫婦がとても親切で、わたしはすごく幸せ者です。

The most different thing is what I have to go shopping and I have to cook by myself. I was a little worried about cooking because I didn't cook so much in Japan. But I could do it, and it's pretty fun. I often make spaghetti because it's cheap.
一番違っていることは買い物しなきゃいけないことと、料理をしなきゃいけないことです。日本ではあまり料理をしなかったので心配していましたが、けっこうやれるものですね。けっこう楽しいです。スパゲッティが安いのでよくスパゲッティを作ります。

I got whole chicken, because it's only $6. It was a little disgusting. Because I could guess this part was wing, this part was legs, this part was chest... But everything is useful. I made soup stock with chicken bones.
鶏肉をまるまる一羽、たったの6ドルだったので買いました。これが翼でこれが足でこれが胸でと想像できるので、ちょっと気持ち悪いです。でもどの部位もおいしい。骨でだしを取って鶏がらスープにしました。

I had to get seasoning at first. Some of them are a little difficult to get in Canada. I got Katakuri powder and basis of Japanese soup(Dashi no Moto) basis of Chinese soup, and dried bonito(Katuobushi) etc in Japanese town. You could find food which you want to get there.
はじめは調味料をそろえなければいけないんですけど、カナダでは入手困難なものも中にはあります。片栗粉とだしの素と中華スープの素と鰹節はこのジャパニーズタウンで手に入れました。ここならあなたの欲しいものがきっと見つかるははず。

I think sometimes I wish I could do my life over again. However after that I think that's a waste if I also lost the things which I could get with hard work.
よくもう一回人生やり直したいと思うのですが、苦労してやっと手に入れたものまで失ってしまうのはもったいないって後で思うんです。

I didn't get to Liberty Island. I just saw from Staten Island Ferry. Because that ferry is free. You can go up the crown. But it seems very popular. You need reservation.
わたしはリバティアイランドには上陸しませんでした。スタテンアイランドフェリーからの写真です。ただなんです。このフェリー。王冠に登れるらしいですがすごく人気で予約が必要です。

This is The High Line. It was elevated railway. It's park now.
これはハイライン。前は高架鉄道だったんですが、今は公園になってます。

This is New York Public Library.The admission fee is free.
ニューヨーク公共図書館。入場料無料。

Some how it has the atmosphere like "Harry Potter".
なんだか『ハリーポッター』みたいな雰囲気。

The ceiling is elaborate. I can't believe it's public library!
こった天井。これが公共図書館だなんて信じられない！

I went to under Chrysler Building, because I wanted to take the picture. But I couldn't see anything when I got to there. I thought I mistook a direction. But it was wrong. It's too big to see the top. I had to leave a little.
この写真が撮りたくて、クライスラービルの下に行ったら何も見つからなくて、これは道を間違えたかなぁと思ったんですけど、このビルが大きすぎて上のほうが見えないだけでした。ちょっと離れないといけなかったんですね。

It's the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I passed it, because I forgot to take student card. Regular admission fee is $25. But if you have the card, you can get it for $12.
これはメトロポリタン美術館。スチューデントカードを忘れたので通り過ぎましたが。普通料金は25ドルですが、スチューデントカードがあれば12ドルです。

So I chose Whitney Museum of American Art. That has discount ticket for student too. But it's cheaper than The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Modern arts are difficult to understand for me. But this room is interesting. Itself is a work of art.
それでホイットニー美術館にしました。ここも学割が効きますが、メトロポリタン美術館よりは安いので。現代アートはわたしにとって理解しがたいものでしたが、この部屋はおもしろいと思いました。この部屋自体がアートなんです。

I finished New York travel diary. My class is starting from tomorrow. I'm a little excited.
I'll report about new house next.
これでニューヨーク旅行記を終わります。明日から学校が始まります。ちょっとわくわくします。
次回は新しい家について書きますね。

I went to Times Square to get the musical's ticket after that tennis event.
I didn't know which one was good, so I decided " The Phantom of the Opera". Because I found the theater at first time.
テニスイベントの後、ミュージカルのチケットを買いに行きました。どれがいいのかわからなかったので一番はじめに目に入った『オペラ座の怪人』にしました。

I saw the musical another day. Although I couldn't understand English well, beautiful clothes, excellent dance, live music...it was well worth seeing.
後日、見に行きました。英語はよくわかりませんでしたが、きれいな衣装、素晴らしい踊り、生演奏...見る価値は十分にあります。

It was crowded. A lot of buildings and shops are there. However I didn't do shopping because I don't have money so much.
混んでました。たくさんのビル、お店。お金があまりないのでショッピングはしませんでしたけど。

It's pretty easy direction in Manhattan. Almost all roads have numbers and they are organized clearly. Even I wasn't lost.
ニューヨークの道はけっこう簡単。ほとんどの道にナンバーがついていて、よく整理されています。わたしですら迷いませんでした。

You can find many old buildings. New York is mixed city. Old and new, culture from all over the world.
古い建物もたくさんあります。ニューヨークはまじりあった都市です。古いものと新しいもの。世界中からきた文化。

I joined tennis event in New York ! It was held in Central Park.
ニューヨークでセントラルパークのテニスイベントに参加してきました。

There were many runners. They were running around the pond. I could see beautiful Manhattan.
セントラルパークにはたくさんのランナーがいて池の周りを走っていました。きれいなマンハッタンの街並みが見えます。

I ate an apple in Big apple(New York).
ビッグアップル（ニューヨーク）でアップルを食べる　笑。

The event was held by LACOSTE. It was free.
ラコステのイベントでした。無料です。

Lacoste water. I could get it free too.
ラコステ水。これも無料。

The participants are between children and old persons.
参加者は子供からお年寄りまでいました。

This Lacoste one is my trophy. I could hit the target 4 times, so I could get it.
The racket one was get in US open event site.
このラコステはわたしの戦利品。4回的あてに成功してゲットしました。
このラケットのはUSオープンの会場で購入しました。

In New York

I met my friend in New York! She traveled with her family. She visited me. We contacted each other by Facebook. It's convenient.
ニューヨークで友達に会いました！彼女は家族と旅行だったのですが、わたしに会いに来てくれました。フェイスブックで連絡を取り合っていたんですが、便利ですね。

We went to American Museum of Natural History. That is the setting of "Night at the Museum" which is the movie.
アメリカ自然史博物館に行きました。映画『ナイトミュージアム』の舞台です。

We can see those things in the movie.
この展示物たちは映画にも出てきます。

Blue whale is the biggest animal in the world.
We saw the planetarium and joined walking tour. It was very interesting tough, it's difficult. Because especially I don't know science words in English.
世界最大の動物、シロナガスクジラ。
プラネタリュウムを見て、ウォーキングツアーに参加しました。とってもおもしろかったけど、英語の科学用語をしらねいので難しい。

We had plan to see musical. So we walk to Times Square.
2人ともミュージカルを見る予定があったので、歩いてタイムズスクエアへ。

We ran into the police on the horse on our way.
途中馬に乗ったお巡りさんに出くわしました。

It's more fun with friend. Because we can share delight. I joined dinner with her family at that night. It was fun. Because I ate sandwich alone every day in New York. They treated me to dinner. I really appreciated of it.
やっぱり感動が分かち合えるので友達といたほうが楽しいです。その夜は友達家族と夕食をご一緒させていただきました。ニューヨークではひとりで毎日サンドイッチだったので、楽しかったです。ごちそうになっちゃいました。本当に感謝してます。

US OPEN 2013

Dream has come true. I could go to US open.

夢って本当に叶うんですね。USオープンに行ってきました。

Many tennis competition are held in all over the world. Above all, 4 biggest title are Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open. If someone win the all 4 title, we say " He or she achieve grand slam."

世界中でたくさん、テニスの大会が開催されていますが、中でも4大大会と呼ばれるのがオーストラリアンオープン、フレンチオープン、ウィンブルドン、USオープンです。この４つの大会で優勝することを「グランドスラム達成」といいます。

When I get off at the station, it was all US Open mood, so I was very excited. There were many food shop, sponsor shop, event booth...it was a kind of festival!

駅を降りると、そこはUSオープン一色で、すごくわくわくしました。たくさんの屋台やスポンサーショップ、イベントブース...一種のお祭りなんです。

I went first, second, third day. They are tournaments. So although there are a lot of players on the first day, they decrease day by day. There are only 2 people on the final, and only one can get victory.
First round has big profit. Because we can see a lot of match, and we can see at close range. It's difficult to see top 5 ranking players, because their match are usually held at the main stadium which is called Arthur Ashe stadium. We have to get another ticket for Arthur Ashe stadium. Especially we have to pay a lot of many, if you want to see players close to the seat.

わたしは第1日目、2日目、3日目を見に行きました。試合はトーナメントなので初日にはたくさんいた選手たちが日ごとに減っていき、決勝では2人しか残りません。そして、優勝できるのはたったの１人だけです。
一回戦の大きなメリットは、たくさんの試合を至近距離で見ることができることです。ランクがトップ５の選手たちはたいてい、アーサーアッシュスタジアムと呼ばれるメインコートで試合が組まれるので、見るのは難しいですが。彼らを見るには、アーサーアッシュスタジアムに入場するためのチケットを手に入れなくてはなりません。それも近くから見たかったら高額なチケットを手に入れる必要があります。

I discovered again that tennis is really fun. It's especially singles. Because tennis needs not only technique but also mental strength. Moreover men's singles is 5 set match, women's singles is 3 set match in grand slam. Sometimes they have to keep concentration for 5 or 6 hours. And players can't get any advice during the game. They have to consider how to play by themselves. For example how do they fix their condition, what's the week point of their opponent.

テニスっておもしろい！再発見でした。特にシングルス。テニスはテクニックだけでなく、精神力が必要とされるところが特におもしろい。さらにグランドスラムでは男子シングルスは5セットマッチ、女子は3セットマッチを戦わねばならず、時には5時間も6時間も集中しなければならない。そして選手たちは試合中、アドバイスを受けることができないので、自分でどうプレーするのか考えるんです。どうやって自分の調子を整えたらいいのかとか、相手の弱点はどこなのかとか。

I think top 10 players have almost the same ability. But besides top 5 players are especially good at fixing their condition than other players. They can put themselves into gear when they need.
わたしが思うにトップ10の選手が持っているテクニックはほとんど同じレベルです。でもトップ5に入っている選手たちはその上で調子を整えることがうまい。彼らは必要なときにギアを入れられるんです。

Hi ! How's it going ?
I'm going to move my luggage to new house tomorrow. And I'm leaving Canada to New York day after tomorrow.
I've stayed already almost for 3 moths...It was very fast.

New York! US open! That's my biggest event!
And I might be able to join tennis clinic in central park. I'm very nervous. Because my English and tennis skill is ....but if I can join this, it'll be good memory for me.
And I'll see my friend after long time. We'll see American Museum of Natural History. That seems a scene of movie whose name is "Night at the museum". So I'm watching that movie.

I can't renew this blog for about one week. Please wait having fun!

みなさん！お元気ですか？
明日、わたしは新しいお家に荷物を移動させて、あさってはニューヨークへと旅立ちます。
ニューヨーク！USオープン！わたしの一番大きなイベントです！
そして、もしかしたらセントラルパークでテニスクリニックに参加するかもです。わたしの英語もテニスも...なので緊張しますね。でももしできたらすごくいい思い出になるでしょう。
それからひさしぶりに友達に会います。アメリカ自然史博物館に行きます。映画『ナイトミュージアム』の舞台らしいです。それで今見てます。

BBQ

I joined BBQ party yesterday. We were making " Yaki Udon" instead of Yakisoba in this picture. Udon and Yakisoba are Japanese noodles. Udon is made from flour. We eat Udon with soup usually, Yakisoba is thinner and we saute with vegetables. "Yaki" means saute. So Yaki Udon is almost the same as Yakisoba. Only the noodle is different.

Phew, I tried to explain about Japanese noodles. How do you feel? It's important thing when you want to introduce Japan.

昨日はバーベキューをしました。この写真は、焼そばの代わりに焼うどんを作っているところです。うどんと焼きそばは日本の麺のことです。うどんは小麦粉から作られていて、たいていスープと一緒に食べますが、焼きそばの麺はもっと細くて、野菜と一緒に炒めて食べます。「Yaki」というのは炒めるという意味です。つまり焼うどんはほとんど焼きそばと同じ。ただ麺が違うだけ。

I went Beach Yoga again. And after I walked the lake shore.
またビーチヨガに行ってきまして、その後、レイクショアを歩いてみました。（レイクショア、、日本語でなんて言うんでしょうね。湖畔とも言えないし、海岸線でもない）

Go on the wind

I went beach yoga yesterday early morning. It felt very good, because we can do while we hear wind.
And it's good studying too because the teacher speaks English.
昨日の朝、ビーチヨガに行ってきました。風の音を聞きながらヨガをするって、とても気持ちがいいです。
先生は英語を話すのでいい勉強にもなります。

I'm always looking for English speaking opportunity these days. It's hard for me to improve my English than I expected.
I try to do these things.
* Watching tennis player's interview in English.
* Writing this blog in English
* Reading English books
* Going out to English speaking opportunity
最近英語を話せる場所を探してばかりいます。予想していたよりも英語力を伸ばすのが大変で。
今はこんなことしてます。

To tell you the truth, I just wanted to run away from work, so I came to Canada. I was waiting Mr. right, but he's never come lol.
Although I came to Canada, I can't find anything, I don't know what I have to do. I have to chose by myself. It's the same thing in Canada as in Japan.
本当のことを言うと、仕事が嫌でカナダに逃げてきたんです。運命の人を待ってたんですけど、彼、来なくて　笑。
カナダに来ても何も見つからないし、何をすべきかもわからないし。日本にいてもカナダにいても自分で決めなきゃね。

The super sells daily food by weight. When I took brake for studying, I had this. I got too many food, so it was $17, but it tasted very good.
スーパーが惣菜のはかり売りをしていて、勉強の休憩にこれ食べました。欲張りすぎて17ドルもしましたがとってもおいしかったです。

Vacation

I'm in vacation now. I need only one week to go to NY. However I can't take only one week. So I took 5 weeks.
I don't have class now, So I really need English learning opportunity.
今、バケーション中です。ニューヨークに行くために1週間だけ必要なんですが、1週間だけ取ることができなくて5週間も取ってしまったわけです。今、授業がないのでもう本当に英語を勉強する機会が必要です。

One day, I went to the library in Eglinton. There are few Japanese comic in English, I read all day "NARUTO" "SLAM DUNK" "GIN TAMA"
That's interesting. You can learn casual English from them. I felt something different, for example "SLAM DUNK". Sakuragi who is hero calls just "Haruko" to heroin. Haruko also calls just "Sakuragi" to him. They put on "kun" or "san" behind the name in Japanese. But English speaker don't have the culture like that.
If my house was close to Eglinton, I'd go there every day.

ある日はエグリントンの図書館に行きました。そこには英語バージョンの日本のマンガが少しあって、その日は一日中『NARUTO』、『SLAM　DUNK』、『銀魂』を読みました。カジュアルな英語が学べて興味深いです。少し違和感を感じましたが。たとえばスラムダンクですが、主人公の桜木がヒロインのことをただ「はるこ」と呼び、はるこも桜木のことを「桜木」と呼んでるんです。日本語では「くん」「さん」を付けて呼んでますよね。でも英語にそういう文化がないんです。
エグリントンが近かったら毎日通うのですが．．．。

Other day I went language exchange. "Language exchange" is study meeting to Canadian who want to study Japanese and Japanese who want to study English. I got that information from the former student's blog on Ryugaku Journal website. Actually I was going to language exchange in Japan. It was similar. We can talk English 40 minutes and can talk Japanese 40 minutes. It was easy to talk, because they are interested in Japan. www.meetup.com/tjex-ca/

またある日はラングエッジエクスチェンジに行って来ました。ラングエッジエクスチェンジとは日本語を勉強したいカナダ人と英語を勉強したい日本人のための勉強会です。留学ジャーナルのウェブサイトで前の学生さんがブログで書いている情報を見まして。実はわたし、日本でもラングエッジエクスチェンジに行ってました。似たような感じでした。英語を40分話し、日本語を40分話す。みんな日本に興味を持ってくれている人たちなのでとっても話しやすいです。

I saw him who joined volunteer of Rogers cup there. He is Japanese. His English is very well. If I could speak English well, I'd join!!!
そこでロジャースカップのボランティアをしている男の子に会いました。彼に英語はとても上手でした。もし
わたしも英語が話せたらロジャースカップのボランティアができたのに！！！

I decided new house on Friday.

金曜日に新しい家を決めてきました。

I tried to see houses alone. However everyone said it's dangerous. Because some house owners are strange. It seems that one girl was almost shut up and got away. So I asked a friend to go with me.

一人で探そうとしていたのですが、みんながそれは危険だというので友達についてきてもらうことにしました。中には変な家主もいるらしく、ある女の子は閉じ込められそうになったところを逃げてきたんだとか。

The house which I saw fist is close to down town. The rent is $500 for a month include electric charge, water bill, Wi-Fi, and furniture. But you have to pay $1.5 for the washing machine and the dryer each. That term is not bad. Some friends have to pay $600. The owner is an old Japanese woman who looks like kind. However I wanted to see next house, so I didn't decide. Another Japanese guy also came looking for house. He had decided that room right away.

一件目はダウンタウンに近い場所にあって、家賃は光熱費、水道代、家具代すべて含めて月500ドル。ただし、洗濯機と乾燥機を使うときそれぞれ１ドル５セント必要です。条件はそんなに悪くないです。600ドル払っている人もけっこういます。家主は親切そうな日本人女性でした。わたしは2件目を見たかったのでここは決めなかったのですが、他に家を探している日本人の男の人がいて、その人がすぐ決めちゃいました。

The house which I saw second is close to Casa Loma. When I came to Casa Loma, I thought I hope I can live close to there. Because it has the nice atmosphere, it looks like a fancy tale. Finally I decided that house, but I had no idea that I could realize.

2件目はカサロマのすぐ近くです。カサロマに行った時、この辺りに住めるといいなぁと思っていました。すごくいい雰囲気なんです。まるで物語に出てきそうで。結局、ここに決めたのですが、実現するなんて思いもよりませんでした。

It's about 10 minutes from the station by walk. The rent is $400 include almost everything. Besides I don't have to pay for washing machine. Deposit is only $50. However it's the best thing that owner is very kind. The owner is an old couple. They are from Latvia. He told me they immigrated to Canada to avoid trouble of the World War 2.

駅から歩いて10分程度。家賃はほとんどすべて込で400ドル。洗濯機にもお金を払う必要はありません。デポジットはたったの50ドル。でも一番いいところは家主がとっても親切だってことです。家主は年配のご夫婦で、彼らは第二次世界大戦の混乱から逃れるためラトビアからカナダに移住してきたんだそうです。

When I called them, I was so nervous. Because I had to speak English. It was hard because my English is not good. However I could communicate with them, somehow.

I'm looking forward to living new house J

最初、電話した時、英語を話さなくてはならなかったので、とっても緊張しました。わたしの英語力はそんなに高くないので、難しいんです。でもなんとかコミュニケーションとれました。新しい家に住むの楽しみです。

I saw the squirrel in front of the house. There are many trees.

Rogers Cup

I went to Rogers cup KID's Day on Saturday and Sunday. Rogers cup is the biggest tennis event in Canada. This is the event, which I really wanted to join volunteer. The volunteer can get premium T-shirts or Polo-shirts and they can watch the match every day for free.

土、日にロジャースカップのキッズデイに行ってきました。ロジャースカップとはカナダで最も大きなテニスのイベントで、わたしがすっごくボランティアしたかったやつです。ボランティアはプレミアムT-シャツかポロシャツがもらえて、毎日ただで試合が見れるんです。

KID's Day is a kind of festival. The admission fee is free. It's not main tournament. However we can watch preliminary and practice. We can enjoy outlet shopping, time our service's speed, and make a movie which we pretend just like we win the Rogers cup. And we can get a cushion, some samples (body wash, coffee, yogurt and yogurt drink etc...) for free.

キッズデイはお祭りのようなもので、メインのトーナメントではないのですが、入場料は無料。でも予選や練習を見ることはできますし、アウトレットショッピングもできます。サーブのスピードの計測やロジャースカップで優勝したみたいなビデオを作ることもできます。座布団やサンプル（ボディーソープ、コーヒー、ヨーグルト、ヨーグルト飲料など）も無料でゲットできます。

I could see Francesca Schiavone and Dominika Cibulkova nearby on Saturday. They were practicing. Their foot work were very light. And their hit point were always constant. They kept their back straight.

わたしは土曜日、フランチェスカ・スキアボーネとドミニカ・チブルコワの練習を見ることができました。フットワークが軽く、打点が一定で、姿勢をまっすぐ保っていました。

I could see Laura Robson on Sunday. She came the autograph session. I lined and got her autograph. She said to me "Hi" I felt awkward, because she is professional tennis player. I could say just "Thank you. Good luck"

日曜日にはサイン会に来てくれた、ローラ・ロブソンに会えました。サインもらいましたよ。列に並んで　笑。ローラ・ロブソンがわたしに「Hi」って言ってくれました。プロの選手にそう言ってもらって、なんだか照れてしまいました。

I really want to see main tournament, but I gave up. Because I'm going to watch US open. I keep pleasure these days.

本当はメインのトーナメントも見たいのですが、諦めます。USオープンを見に行くんで。楽しみはその日までとっておきます。

Japanese Festival

I went to Japanese Festival last Sunday.
先週の日曜、ジャパニーズフェスティバルに行ってきました。

I don't know why? Flamenco fused with Shamisen. But some how it was pretty match.
なぜかフラメンコと三味線がフュージョン。でもけっこうマッチしてたかも。

Many festival is held in Toronto.
トロントではたくさんのフェスティバルが開催されます。

I got 2 dollar coins chocolate from my teacher. It's not Japanese Festival at all, but I put on the picture. Because I was happy.
２ドルチョコレートを先生からいただきました。ジャパニーズフェスティバルとは全く関係ありませんが嬉しかったので。

I got US open tickets. It's not Japanese Festival at all. But I put on the picture because I'm very very happy☆
USオープンのチケットを手に入れました。全くジャパニーズフェスティバルとは関係ありませんがすっごく、すっごく嬉しかったので☆

Brazilian Party

My new home stay mate is the girl from Brazil. She took me Brazilian Party day before yesterday. I don't like party very much. However I was leaned because I heard I could eat Brazilian food for free that night.

新しいホームステイメイトはブラジルから来た女の子。彼女にブラジルパーティに連れて行ってもらいました。パーティってあんまりすきじゃないんですけど、その夜はブラジル料理が無料で食べられると聞いて、つられちゃいました。

Night club was first time for me.
初めてのナイトクラブです。

Live performance is held at midnight.
真夜中になると生演奏があります。

I don't know why, Japanese animation was played.
？？？
なぜか日本のアニメが流れていたりして。

When Brazilian music was performed, it entered peak. People were singing and dancing. I guess it was popular Brazilian song.
Every Brazilian were very energetic.
ブラジリアンミュージックが演奏されると、パーティはピークを迎えます。みんな歌ったり、踊ったり。たぶんブラジルではポピュラーな歌なんでしょうね。ブラジルの人はみんな陽気です。

This is feijoada which is Brazilian traditional food. It is a stew of beans with beef and pork, It was pretty good.
これがブラジルの伝統料理、フェジョアーダ。豆と牛肉と豚肉を煮込んだ料理です。けっこうおいしいです。

Volunteer

I was so disappointed today! Because I found I can't do volunteer work at Rogers cup. It's a big tennis tournament. I applied for the volunteer 2 weeks ago. But I didn't get any information. So I checked carefully. That dead line was over.

今日はすごくがっかりしたんです。なぜって、ロジャースカップのボランティアができないとわかったので。ロジャースカップというのは大きなテニスの大会なんです。わたしは２週間前に応募したのですが、その後何の連絡もないので、よく確かめてみたら、締切、過ぎてました。

I took an extra holiday to do volunteer, so I'm all the more disappointed. I wanted to be proud though.
There's nothing I can do about it. It's my fault that I didn't research about it. However I've never thought about volunteer when I came to Toronto, though I knew Rogers cup. I had to think in Japan what I want to do in Canada.

余分に休暇をとっていたんで、いっそうがっかり。これを自慢にしたかったのに。でもしかたないです。わたしが悪いんですから。リサーチ不足でした。でもロジャースカップのことは知っていても、ボランティアのことなんてトロントに来るまで思いもよらなかったんです。日本にいるあいだにカナダで何がしたいのかしっかり考えておくべきでした。

Any way, I took a long holiday from August 5 to September 6. I don't want to waste of time. I hope I can do other volunteer. It should be great experience and English speaking opportunity for me. So I'm making resume. However it's very difficult. It's difficult even if Japanese!

とにかく、８月５日から９月６日まで休暇をとったので、無駄にしないようにしないと。いい経験になるし、英語を話す機会になるし、他のボランティアでもいいからできるといいんだけど。そこで履歴書を作っているんですが、これが難しい。日本語でさえ難しいのにね！

It's almost 2 months since I came to Canada. However my English doesn't improve very much.

もうすぐカナダに来て２か月。ほとんどわたしの英語は伸びていません。

Casa Loma

My friend who came from Mexico asked me and we went to Casa Loma.
メキシコの友達に誘われてカサロマに行ってきました。

This building was constructed by Sir Henry Mill Pellatt. He was very very rich man. That was very huge and luxurious.

この建物は・ヘンリー・ミル・ペラットによって建てられました。彼はすっごくすっごくお金持ち。カサロマはすごく広くてすごく豪華です。

Casa Loma has so many gorgeous rooms.
There were lower level and main floor second floor and third floor. Basement and the stables was connected with tunnel. Besides, there were tower too.

「ようこそ、マイルームへ」
カサロマにはたくさん贅沢な部屋があります。
地下室、一階、二階、三階。地下と牛舎はトンネルでつながっています。その上、塔まであります。

I've seen like this in picture books. I felt Canada.
こんな感じのを絵本で見たことがあります。カナダを感じますね。

My friend is going to go back to Mexico on Monday. So we could make a good memory.
友達は月曜、メキシコに帰ります。いい思い出ができました。

Home stay life

Janine who was my room mate left the home last Saturday.
She is Swiss. Her English is very well. She always said to me "Don't speak Japanese" when I went out with my Japanese friend. The way which we improve our English is using English. It's easy to say. However it's very hard to do.

ルームメートだったジュニーンが先週の土曜日に出て行きました。
彼女はスイス人ですが、彼女の英語はすごく上手。わたしが日本人の友達と遊びに行くときいつも「日本語は話しちゃだめだよ」と言ってくれました。英語を上達させるには英語を使うこと。言うは易し、行うは難し。

And a Brazilian girl came. Her English is also pretty good. My English is ... I can't tell you :(
そしてブラジル人女の子がやって来ましたが、彼女の英語も結構上手。わたしの英語は。。。言えません（汗）

I got a chance to introduce my room mates, so let me introduce my home stay life.
ルームメイトを紹介したついでに、わたしのホームステイライフを紹介しますね。

My home stay mom was from Italy. She has a daughter who is 20. Our meal is mainly pasta. Taste is mainly tomato. These are not so much variety, but these are good.

ホームステイママはイタリア出身です。２０の娘がいます。食事は主にパスタ。トマト味。バラエティには富みませんが、けっこうおいしいです。

It seems that some home stay family is not so good. Some students can't eat vegetables, some students can't talk with home stay family, some student can't take a shower enough time. In my case, I'm so lucky. Because I can eat a lot of vegetables, I can talk with home stay mom, I can take a shower as I like. If I ask my home stay mom, she always give me some advice. So I can solve any problem little by little.

ホームステイにも当たり外れがあるらしく、野菜が食べられない学生とか、家族と話ができないとか、十分な時間シャワーを浴びれないとかあるみたいです。わたしはすごくラッキーです。野菜はたくさん食べられるし、ホームステイママは話し相手になってくれるし、好きなだけシャワーも浴びれます。もし相談があれば必ず相談に乗ってくれます。だから少しずつ問題を解決することができます。

I took some Japanese tea packs, Japanese sweets, and some Japanese stationery for my home stay family.
I guess Japanese stationery was the best thing for them. It seems that Japanese products is good. Most Korean student use Japanese products. I used to work stationery company. So I could chose stationery which is popular in Japan.

お土産に、日本茶のティーパックと和菓子と日本の文房具を持って行ったんですが、日本の文房具が一番よかったみたいです。日本の文房具は質がいいみたいです。多くの韓国人学生は日本の製品を使っていたりします。わたしは文房具の会社で働いていたので日本で人気の文房具を選んでみました。

I went to Toronto island to see the night view. It was 8:00 pm in this picture. It was still right, wasn't it?
That's not sea. That's a huge lake. The water isn't salty.

Heavy rains on Monday

I met with an accident this Monday.
今週の月曜、遭難しました。

It was storm when I went out, though it was sunny a little while ago.

I took a subway, but that was stopped on the way. The emergency guidance was announced, I didn't understand easily. I waited next train. However that was also stopped. Next was also. Next was...

Finally I got that I had to take a bus.

外に出ると豪雨でした。さっきまで晴れていたのに。

地下鉄に乗ったのに途中で降ろされました。緊急放送も、よくわからなかったので、とりあえず次の電車を待ちました。でも次の電車もストップ。次の電車も。次の...。

やっとわかりました。バスを使わなきゃならないんだって。

I went to the bus stop, the staff said something loudly. But I couldn't understand clearly, I listened the thing which he said again and again. I understood it seemed every buses was going to North, I rode the bus.

That was so crowded, finally That go to my local station. After that I changed the bus. However the road was so crowded.
It was 10 when I got to home. It took 4 hours, usually it took an hour though.

バス停に出ると係りの人が大声で何か言ってるんですがよくわかりません。それで何回も何回も聞いているうちにどのバスも北に行くらしいことがわかったのでそのバスに乗り込みました。めちゃくちゃ混んでましたが。

自分の最寄駅に着いてバスを乗り越えて、そしたら今度は道がめちゃくちゃ混んでいて家に着いたのが１０時です。いつも１時間の道のりが４時間かかりました。

And the room was dark.
"Hello! I'm home" I said.
"Aya, are you OK? Power was down." Home stay mom came with a candle.

So I had dinner with candles. That was a little interesting though.

そしたら部屋が真っ暗。
「ただいま！」
「おかえり。大丈夫？停電してるんだよ」ホームステイママがろうそくを持ってきました。

そういうわけでろうそくの光で夕食を食べました。なかなか興味深い経験です。

It seems that was rarely thing in Toronto.

CN Tower

I always can see CN tower far from St George, because there is on my way home. I feel in Canada, because that's symbol of Toronto.　

帰り道なので、いつもセントジョージからCNタワーが見えます。トロントを象徴するタワーなのでカナダに来たなあという感じがします。

I went to that CN tower.
そのCNタワーに行ってきました。

We can see Rogers Centre.
ロジャースセンターが見えます。

It gets dark when it's 9:00. If it got dark completely, we could see a beautiful night view. But we had to go a school next day. That's all.

９時になってようやく暗くなります。完全に暗くなったら綺麗な夜景が見えるんだろうけど、次の日学校。ここまで。

I wish I could speak English more.

If you want to work in Canada, you have to get Social Insurance Number(SIN).

I applied at the office 2 weeks ago. I could have the staff send SIN card to me, but I didn't have my home stay address that day. So I decided to come to the office again.

And today, I went to there. However that wasn't there yet. I didn't want to come again anymore, because the office is pretty far from my home. Today I have the address, so I asked them whether I could have them send that or not.

The answer was "NO". Because that needs money.
However I couldn't understand. Why they could send it another day, but they couldn't today.
She said " You chose to come here that day"

Finally she wrote "Please bring someone who speaks English to help you" on a note, and gave me it. I could understand what she say without the note. I just can't express in English. I was very disappointed. It seemed she didn't want to speak with me anymore.

I can't still understand, but I couldn't object. I wish I could speak English more.

カナダで働くには雇用保険番号（SIN)が必要です。

２週間前、申請に行きました。SINカードができたら送ってもらうことも可能でしたが、その時ホームステイ先の住所がわからなかったので、取りに来ることにしました。それで今日、取りに行ったのですが、まだできていないと言われました。申請先は家から遠く、わたしはもう来たくありませんでした。

今日は住所がわかったので、スタッフにカードを送ってもらうよう頼んだのですが、答えは「NO」でした。理由はコストがかかるから。

でも、納得できません。なぜ、この間はできて、今日はできないのか？彼女が言うには「あなたがここに来ることを選んだんでしょ」だそうです。

ついには「誰か英語を話せる人を連れてきてください」と紙切れに書きわたしに渡してきました。わたしはその紙切れがなくたって、彼女が何を言ったのかわかりました。ただ表現できないんです。とてもがっかりしました。彼女はもうわたしとは話したくないようでした。

まだ納得いきませんが文句を言うこともできません。もっと英語が話せればいいのに。

By the way, the ILAC students who take more than12 weeks class can get monthly pass for a discount rate. We have to make TTC Photo ID at Photo Centre though. At first, I didn't know that That's a waste!

ところで１２週間以上受講するILACの学生はマンスリーパスを割引料金で買うことができます。TTCフォトセンターでフォトIDを作る必要がありますが。わたしははじめ、そのことを知りませんでした。もったいない！

ALGONQUIN PARK 2

I woke up at around 5 a.m. on the second day in Algonquin Park. The starry night disappeared already, instead of the white moon has come out. The sky and the surface of the river was also white. It was really quiet. I heard something cried far away, and the sound a frog jumped in the river. Mosquitoes was always frying around me. So there were many sounds. However I felt really quiet. It was different from day and night, it was a little strange. It was just like all human fell asleep and I was only human who awoke.

I wanted to go the river by a canoe. If I could, I would feel so good.
However I didn't. Because I scared to go alone and hated to be bitten by mosquitoes. Finally I felt pain.

If I were children who didn't lost curiosity, I would go and could see different world. I lost it already. I've thought about real than impulse. Since when have I been an adult?

If I get next chance, I want to try.

アルゴンキンパーク２日目の午前５時に目が覚めました。降るような星空は姿を消し、かわりに白い月がかかっていました。空も川面もまた白く、本当に静かでした。わたしは遠くで何かが鳴く声を聞き、カエルが川に飛び込む音を聞きました。蚊が相変わらずわたしの周りをまとわりついていました。だからそこにはたくさんの音があったのですが、わたしは本当に静かだと感じました。それは昼とも夜とも違い、少し不思議でした。それはまるですべての人間は眠りに落ちてしまい、起きているのはわたし一人のような感じがしました。

わたしはカヌーで川に出たいと思いました。そうしたらどんなにか気持ちがいいだろうと思いました。でも、わたしはそうしませんでした。なぜなら、わたしは一人を恐れたし、蚊に食われるのも嫌だったからです。ついには面倒くさくなりました。

もしわたしが好奇心を失っていない子供だったら、わたしは漕ぎ出し、違う世界を見ることができたでしょう。それなのにわたしはすでに失っていたのです。わたしは衝動よりも現実を考えてしまった。わたしはいつから大人になってしまったんでしょう。

もしチャンスがあるなら、つぎこそはトライしてみたいものです。

ALGONQUIN PARK

I went to Algonquin Park to camp for 3 days 2 nights.
We went to the entrance by car. After that we went to the campsite by canoe.It was about 2 hours.
アルゴンキンパークに2泊3のキャンプをしに行きました。
入口までは車で行って、その後キャンプ地までカヌーで移動でした。約2時間

There were just 2 holes called the washroom in the woods.There were no electricity and no water supply. Of course we couldn't take a shower. And the number of mosquitoes were terrible. I were always hearing mosquito's sound.
そこにはトイレと呼ばれるただの穴が林の中にあるだけでした。そこには電気も水道もありません。もちろんシャワーも浴びれません。しかも蚊の数がすごいです。常に蚊の鳴く声が聞こえていました。

the turtle came to the bank. He liked sausages.
亀が岸部にやってきました。ソーセージ好きです。

We had a campfire.
We made sauna. We heated up stones and covered them with a tent. We entered in the tent, after that we poured water on the heated stones. And a lot of steam broke out. The sauna was completed.
キャンプファイヤーです。
サウナも作りました。石をアツアツに温めてテントで覆います。みんなで中に入り、アツアツの石に水をかけます。これでサウナの完成。

Algonquin park has a lot of wild animals. The picture is the bird called loon. She held her eggs. I wanted to see moose, but I could see them far from the canoe.
アルゴンキンパークにはたくさんの野生動物がいます。この写真はルーン(アビ）という鳥で卵を抱いています。わたしはムース（シカみたいな動物）が見たかったのですが遠くのカヌーからしか見れませんでした。

They are member of camping. We are good friend each other.
キャンプのメンバーです。いい友達になれました。

we went to China town to buy a pair of sandals with my friend.
サンダルを買うためにチャイナタウンに行ってきました。

This is $4.51 include tax.
これ税込4ドル51セントです。（日本円で500円くらい）

After that, we went to the museum called Art Gallery of Ontario.
それからアートギャラリーオブオンタリオという美術館へ。

That was a huge museum. So we couldn't see everything one day.
巨大な美術館で一日ではとても見きれませんでした。

After that, we went to Japanese restaurant.
その後日本食レストランへ。

The quantity is pretty big! But we can usually take out it in Canada.
量はかなり多いですが、カナダではたいていテイクアウトできます。

I took out this TERIYAKI. I ate that next day at lunch time.

わたしは照り焼きをテイクアウトしました。次の日のランチとしておいしくいただきました。

Tennis

I've been playing tennis about 10 years. I'm not such a good player, but I love tennis. I'm going to go to NY this August to watch US Open tennis match.
わたしはテニス歴10年です。そんな上手くはないのですが、テニスがすごく好きで、今年はNYにテニスのUSオープンを見に行きます。

I play tennis after school at the park near the ILAC of main building. The surface is terrible! Bounce is terribly high. The ball always takes bad bounce! The net is fence! But it's free. The courts is not so crowded.
わたしはILACのメインビルの近くの公園で学校が終わった後テニスをしています。でもサーフェスがひどいんです。バウンドはめちゃくちゃ跳ね上がるし、常にイレギュラーです。ネットはフェンスだし。でも使用料は無料。コートもそれほど混んではいません。

It seems that other tennis courts are different. I'm not sure yet. But I can play singles match now. So I'm happy.
他のテニスコートは違うそうですが、まだよくわかりません。でもシングルスができるので幸せです。

I found a squirrel in the park. I found them often in Canada.
公園にりすがいました。カナダではよく見かけます。

I've already stayed here about for 3 weeks. Everyone may think I was always happy, but it's a mistake.

I have many problems in Canada.

もうここに来て3週間です。みんなわたしはいつも楽しくやってると思っているかもしれませんが、それは違います。カナダに来てたくさんトラブルがありました。

At first, I had to spend about $1,000(about ¥100,000) for my new laptop. Because I couldn't connect internet with my old laptop. I took it with pains from Japan! The laptop itself is $500. However I added some service, for example set up, information etc. So I had to pay more $500. My home stay mom said that was a waste of money. I think so. However I couldn't help it. I don't know about computer. I couldn't understand explanation about service. Because every explanation was in English!

まずはじめに、新しいノートパソコンを買うのに＄1,000（日本円で10万円くらい）かけなくてはいけませんでした。わたしの古いパソコンはインターネットがつながらなかったんです。苦労して日本から持ってきたていうのに！本体自体は$500なのですが、いろいろサービス（セットアップ、インフォメーションサービスなど）を追加してるうちにもう$500払わなきゃならなくなるはめに・・・。ホームステイのお母さん曰く、お金の無駄だそうです。わたしもそう思いますよ。でもしかたなかったんです。コンピューターについて知識がないし、サービスについての説明も全部、英語だったんですから。

Second, my international master card got problem. One day, I used ATM, but my card didn't work. I read explanation (of course in English) on the display. I spent much time. Then ATM swallowed my card. I couldn't get back my card!

After I went to the bank with my passport. I explained to a clerk what's happening. She was very kind. She understood what I said, and she gave me my card.

次にわたしのインターナショナルデビットカードにトラブルがありました。ある日、ATMを使ったのですが、カードが機能しません。モニターに出てきた説明を読むのに（もちろん英語ですよ)長い時間がかかりました。そうしたらそのATMがわたしのカードを飲み込んでしまい、取り出せなくなってしましました。

あとでパスポートをもってその銀行に行き、ことのあらましを銀行員に説明しました。彼女はとても親切で、わたしの言うこと理解してくれ、わたしのカードを手渡してくれました。

Third, it was happened when I went to Niagara Falls. My Korean friend had to go to the immigration authorities to change her visa. She thought she had to go to the American immigration authorities. So we went to America. However it was a mistake. She had to go to the Canadian immigration authorities. So we went back to Canada. The immigration staff asked me to show our passport. The problem was happened. Because I didn't have my passport.

"Sorry, I don't have"

"Why? Didn't you notice that big caution?"

Then 2 women staff came. One of women said "Show me your Photo ID"

I took my wallet out to look for my ID, she grabbed it. She felt in my wallet, and then pick out my Japanese driver's license.

"Do you need this?"

"Yes"

"Perfect, I keep it until your friend finish a procedure."

After I could get back my driver's license. However I worried about what I should do if I couldn't go back to Canada seriously.

3つ目はナイアガラの滝に行った時に起こりました。韓国の友達がビザを変更するためにアメリカの入国管理局に行かなければならないというのでついていったんです。でもそれは間違いで本当はカナダの入国管理局に行かなくてはいけませんでした。それでわたしたちはカナダに戻りました。そこの入国管理局の人がパスポートを見せるようにわたしに言ったのですが、そこでトラブルです。わたしはパスポートを持ってなかったんです。
「すいません。持ってません」
「なぜ？そこに大きな警告が貼ってあったのに気付かなかったの？」
そこで2人の女性スタッフがやってきました。その一人が「IDを見せなさい」というので、わたしが財布を出すと、それをつかんでそこからわたしの日本の運転免許証を取り出しました。
「これ、必要？」
「はい」
「それならいい。これ、あなたの友達の手続きが終わるまで預かっておくから」
最後に取り戻すことはできたけど、本気でカナダに帰れなかったらどうしようか悩みました。

The last day was Ottawa.
I went to Royal Canadian Mint. 70 kinds of coins in the world and commemorative coins are made here. Vancouver Olympic's medals were also made here. This picture is the rest room. Several coins! It's amazing, isn't it?
最終日はオタワでした。
ロイヤルカナディアンミントに行きましたよ。ここでは世界各国70種類のコインと記念コインが作られています。
バンクーバーのメダルもここで作られました。この写真、トイレですよ。いろんなコイン！驚きでしょ？

While I walked around in the yard, a mysterious bird attacked my head.

庭を歩いていたら、頭を謎の鳥に襲撃されました。

There were many sculptures.
たくさん彫刻がありました。

They were so great.
すごいです。

I saw duck's family on my way home at the lake.
帰りに寄った湖でカモの親子に会いました。

The second day was Montreal.
Unfortunately, it was rainy. So I spent much time in Basilique Notre-Dame.
二日目はモントリオールでした。
あいにく、その日は雨で、ほとんどの時間をノートルダム大聖堂の中で過ごしました

Quebec city and Ottawa have also Basilique Notre-dame. All are beautiful. However Montreal's is the biggest.
ケベックにもオタワにもノートルダム大聖堂はあります。どれもみんな美しいのですが、モントリオールが一番大きいです。

There were many stained glass all around. They were wonderful! However I was lost about contents, because I've never studied about the teachings of Christ.

四方にステンドグラス。見事です！キリスト教を勉強したことがないので内容についてはチンプンカンプンですが。

I went to Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa.

First day was Quebec city.
Long time ago. British and French came to Canada to get beaver's fur. Most French lived in Quebec. So Quebec has still many old French building. They are really beautiful.

ケベック、モントリオール、オタワに行ってきました。
その昔、イギリス人とフランス人がビーバーの毛皮を求めてカナダに来ました。多くのフランス人がケベックに住み、その名残が今も残っているのです。本当に綺麗です。

Hello!
Long time no see!!! I'm in Canada. I arrived on June 1st. I wanted to update my blog right away, but my laptop had any problems. I couldn't connect the internet.
I had a lot things which I want to tell you, but I'll do simply first.

こんにちは！
お久しぶりです！！！わたしはカナダにいます。６月１日には到着していたのですが、わたしのノートパソコンの調子が悪くインターネット
がつながらなかったんです。
伝えたいことは山ほどありますが、まずは簡単にお伝えしますね。

My friends came to the airport to say goodbye to me. I'm the happiest girl in the world.
友達がわたしを見送りに空港まで来てくれました。わたしは世界で一番の幸せ者です。

This is my room at home stay. It's pretty good.
ホームステイ先のわたしの部屋です。なかなか素敵です。

Class mates 　クラスメート

We finished this class today. I had a good time in this class. The class changes 2 weeks each.
今日、このクラスは終了しました。このクラスは楽しかった。でも、クラスは２週間ごとに変わります。

Niagara Falls ナイアガラの滝

I went to Niagara falls last week. It was cloudy and little cold that day.
ナイアガラの滝に行ってきました。その日は曇っていて少し寒かったです。

That's all, I told you very simply like a digest my 2 weeks since I came to Canada. And I'm going to go to Quebec from tonight.
I guess I have a good time in Canada.

Hello! I want to study English, so I'll write my blog in English and Japanese.

I wrote my first blog the other day, but it was just test. I'll try to introduce my these days today.

こんにちは。英語の勉強のために、わたしのブログは英語と日本語でお送りします。

先日、初ブログだったのですが、ただのテストだったので、今日は近況報告をしますね。

This picture is my friends whom had had same class of job trainning for 3 months. The course was children's English teacher training. Job training is public system for unemployments. I had worked for about 5 years, but I quit and took this course. Classmates had each purpose and our age was also each. I had a good experience with them. I decided study abroad, so I could meet them. They had a farewell party for me, because I'm going to leave for Canada soon.

これは３ヶ月職業訓練が一緒だった友達の写真です。訓練名はこども英語講師養成科でした。職業訓練というのは失業者のための公的な制度です。わたしは５年くらい働いていましたが、そこを辞め、この訓練を受けました。クラスメートの目的や年齢はそれぞれでした。留学を決めたからこそ、出会えた仲間です。わたしがもうすぐカナダに行くのでお別れ会をしてくれました。

I worked at a hotel's restaurant after that training. Because I had 3 months before I leave for Canada,and I wanted chance to talk with foreigners. So I chose an international hotel. It's very hard work though, I enjoyed. I and my tennis friends went having the dinner at that restaurant yesterday,that maneger served for free. We were really surprised. The maneger said "Because Ohta-san has worked hardly." I was really happy. I had also painful experience though, I was rewarded.

その訓練の後、ホテルのレストランで働きました。カナダに行くまでに３ヶ月あったし、外国人と話す機会が欲しかったので、国際ホテルを選びました。とてもハードな仕事でしたが、楽しかったです。昨日テニス友達とディナーを食べに行ったのですが、マネージャーが無料にしてくれました。わたしたちはすごく驚いたのですが、マネージャー曰く、「太田さんががんばって働いてくれたから」だそうです。本当に嬉しかった。辛いこともありましたが、努力が報われました。

And my best friend's wedding. I said for her "Congratulations!" She said for me."Good luck!" I had a good time. And I could see other friends after a long time.

そして親友の結婚式。彼女には「おめでとう」と言ったのだけど、彼女はわたしに「がんばてね」と。楽しかったです。他の友達にも久しぶりに会えました。

So I'm leading a full life. But... a little too busy...

そんな訳で、充実した日々を送っております。でも、ちょっと忙しすぎるなぁ・・・
